Issue Highlights:
|
|
|
|
 |
Hello ,
Welcome to the September 2009 issue of our
E-newsletter.
Timeslips 2010 is now available. Starting
at $682.00 (incl GST) for a Single user, this is great value
for money when you consider that over a 12 month period this
equates to only $56.80 per month.
If you have been putting off upgrading be
sure to read the first
article in this issue as we have highlighted some very
important reasons why you should keep current with your
software.
|
|
If you have any end user tips or tricks to help
ease the upgrade process, and would like to share them with
the Timeslips community, please
email them to me so they can be included in future
E-newsletter editions.

Most of us don't want to be bothered with installing
new software, especially when the old software is
working just fine. "If
it ain't broke don't fix it" is a common
response when talking to clients about upgrading.
However, there are some very important
considerations that should be reviewed in every firm
in order to prevent down time, loss of data and
headaches.
Have you updated your risk
management plan? Consider your software. If you are
running a version of Timeslips lower than 2008, here
are a few things that can go wrong:
|
|
|
|
• |
an obsolete
version of Timeslips will not work with new
computer operating systems |
|
• |
an obsolete
version of Timeslips is no longer supported by the manufacturer |
|
• |
if your computer
was to crash and you don't have the original
software on hand, you will be unable to
recover your Timeslips data. |
|
• |
if you miss-place
your physical software CD and you are not on
a supported version it cannot be replaced |
|
• |
if you've had
multiple office managers and IT people over
the years, do you know where your software
actually is? |
|
|
|
Once software becomes obsolete,
you should consider software
upgrades as part of your preventive maintenance plan.
I cannot think of any cost effective reasons for
continuing to use obsolete software.

Timeslips 2010 - Spotlight on "Clients
Not Billed Report" |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
One of the new reports included in Timeslips
2010 is the "Clients Not Billed List". This report will show which
clients have not been billed since a specific date.
What is really nice about this report is that you
can use the design view to add or move data columns and customise
your report much the same as you would a user-defined report.
Use this report to identify clients that may have
been accidentally skipped during the normal billing process.

You can
filter, sort and select by the last Billed Date,
Client or Aged Balance Total. If you select the
option to print clients with a zero balance, you
will see all your clients, otherwise it only show
clients with a balance. |

How to reset your Invoice
Date
The
"Revise Bill Date" feature allows you change the
date on an invoice.
For
example, today is Thursday 17th September 2009, and
you are doing your mid month billing and want to
date the invoices Tuesday 15th September 2009.
Simply go to Bills (top menu), Revise Bill Date and
change the date.
The date
will then be used on the invoices you generate.
Note: Remember to change the date
back to today when you have finished with billing. |
