Hello ,
Welcome to the June issue of our E-newsletter.
As the end of June fast approaches and we head toward the new financial year, here are a few things to consider for the next 6 months of 2009:

1. Clean up your database;
2. Check your backups;
3. Schedule some staff training; and
4. Keep current with your systems.

Clean up your database

Do you have slips going back to 1995 (or before) still in your database? Maybe it's time to purge them and speed up the performance of your billing and reporting. It's easy to setup a "historical database" for future access if necessary.

Do you have clients you haven't done any work for in several years still on the "open" list? Consider moving them to "closed". If they resurface for more work simply change their status back to open. This will help make the client list more manageable for time entry, billing and reporting.

Check your backups

When was the last time you checked your backups? Protect your critical data and make sure you have a current backup of Timeslips. Don't just rely on the network backup - setup a scheduled backup within Timeslips to run each night or before the end of the day assign someone in your office to make a manual backup with a unique name. We recommend including the date in the file name.

 •

Schedule some staff training

Are you making the most out of the data you are capturing in Timeslips? Minimise the impact of employee turnover by ensuring all your staff are trained and you have an up-to-date procedures handbook in place.

Keep current with your systems

Technology is changing. If you're considering a Server upgrade in the next few months be sure to include a Timeslips upgrade in your plan. We encourage you to not fall behind with your version of Timeslips as it may not work with the latest operating systems. Also, if you have added licenses recently, be sure to update your software register with the latest information. Keeping your software licenses and media in a central location can help reduce down time when you need to upgrade.

Timeslips Add- Ons

 
     
 

Reduce Admin time by making Timeslips available to ALL Timekeepers
(Item 3 from last month's Action Plan for new financial year)

Are you taking full advantage of Timeslips licenses? If your organisation has recently added employees who bill time, you can add network licenses at any time.

By adding network station licenses to Timeslips it gives each user in your office access to enter their own time. Therefore reducing administrative overhead if you have someone re-entering time from a spreadsheet.

With the appropriate security settings, you can ensure each user only has access to the areas of the program they need and that they have their own productivity reports to monitor their time and achieve their billing goals.

How do I get the icons back?

Q:

How do I get the toolbar icons back on the Client Information or Slip Entry dialog box?

 

 

A:

1) Close all windows in Timeslips (Ctrl+W).

2) Select Setup > Preferences to open the Personal Preferences dialog box, and then select the Interface page.

3) Select Restore All Windows to Default Size and Positions.

4) Timeslips will prompt you to set all windows back to their original position. Select Yes to do so, or No to cancel and return to the Personal Preferences dialog box.

5) Select OK to close the dialog box. You should now see the icons (the toolbar) returned to their original position.
